About Us

AZE.US is an independent English-language news platform focused on Azerbaijan, the South Caucasus and the wider region.

The project was founded by Elnur Baimov, a media entrepreneur and former publisher of National Geographic Azerbaijan and National Geographic Kids Azerbaijan, with more than 25 years of experience in journalism, digital media, broadcasting and cross-platform publishing.

AZE.US is part of a multilingual media network created to make news and analysis about Azerbaijan more accessible to global audiences. Our coverage connects local developments with broader regional and international context, from politics and diplomacy to economy, society, urban life, energy, transport and culture.

We are independent and not affiliated with any government, political party or state institution in Azerbaijan or abroad.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide clear, timely and reliable coverage of Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus for international readers.

We aim to:

  • explain regional developments in accessible English;
  • provide context beyond daily headlines;
  • cover Azerbaijan’s society, economy and politics with accuracy and balance;
  • connect local stories with global audiences;
  • build a professional multilingual media platform rooted in editorial independence.

Editorial Approach

AZE.US follows a newsroom approach based on accuracy, context and transparency. We focus on stories that help readers understand why Azerbaijan matters – regionally and globally.

Our editorial priorities include:

  • Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and regional role;
  • South Caucasus geopolitics;
  • energy, trade and transport corridors;
  • economic and social developments;
  • urban change in Baku and other cities;
  • culture, identity and the Azerbaijani diaspora.

We seek to avoid noise, sensationalism and empty press-release journalism. Our goal is to publish journalism that is useful, readable and grounded in facts.

Funding Transparency

At present, AZE.US and the broader network are financed through the personal resources of the founder.

We do not receive funding from any government, political structure, foreign state entity or undisclosed sponsor. This allows us to maintain editorial independence.

As the project grows, we may seek revenue through advertising, sponsorships, partnerships or grants. Any major funding relationship that may be relevant to readers will be disclosed transparently.

Our Network

AZE.US is part of a multilingual media network covering Azerbaijan and the region in several languages:

Together, these platforms are designed to reduce language barriers and bring Azerbaijan-related news and analysis to wider international audiences.
