Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with senior representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington on Tuesday during a working visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
According to the presidential office, Aliyev held talks with AIPAC Executive Director Elliot Brandt and members of the organization’s leadership, where both sides recalled a recent visit by an AIPAC delegation to Azerbaijan and previous high-level meetings in Baku.
Brandt highlighted Azerbaijan’s record of interfaith coexistence and thanked the country’s leadership for state support provided to the Jewish community. Aliyev said religious tolerance has historically been part of Azerbaijan’s social fabric and emphasized the country’s contribution to global dialogue among religions and cultures.
The meeting also addressed Azerbaijan-U.S. relations. Participants noted that bilateral engagement has expanded since Trump returned to office.
Officials referenced the recent visit to Azerbaijan by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and the signing of a Strategic Partnership Charter between the two governments. The document identifies traditional cooperation areas as well as emerging priorities, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Both sides underscored AIPAC’s role in strengthening Azerbaijan’s ties with the United States and Israel and discussed prospects for further cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
