Azerbaijan is preparing to introduce administrative penalties for the use and circulation of electronic cigarettes, under draft amendments currently under discussion in parliament’s committee on legal policy and state building.
The proposed legislation would impose a fine of 30 manats (about $18) for smoking e-cigarettes in streets and other public places.
The draft also establishes liability for the import, export, production, storage and sale of electronic cigarettes. Proposed fines range from 350 to 500 manats for individuals, 1,650 to 2,200 manats for officials, and 4,000 to 5,000 manats for legal entities.
Cases would be reviewed by district and city courts. The amendments are expected to take effect on April 1, if adopted.
