Azerbaijan plans to expand its list of in-demand professions by adding 25 new specialties aligned with the evolving needs of the labor market.

The initiative is outlined in the Cabinet of Ministers’ report on the government’s activities for 2025, which highlights ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s professional classification system.

Authorities say the update is aimed at aligning vocational training programs with both current and future labor market demands. Particular attention is being given to professions related to the green economy and technological development.

The 25 new specialties will be added to the existing list of 175 in-demand professions and specializations, following a series of analytical assessments conducted by experts.

Specialists note that several of the new fields are expected to focus on information technology and digital skills, areas where demand for qualified professionals continues to grow both in Azerbaijan and globally.

Experts believe that expanding the list will provide more career opportunities for young people and help better prepare graduates for the rapidly changing labor market.

The reform is also seen as an important step toward building the workforce needed for digital transformation and the transition to a green economy, two sectors expected to drive future economic development in Azerbaijan.
