Concerns are growing in Azerbaijan over a possible rise in pharmaceutical prices, including medications used in oncology treatment, amid broader inflationary pressure affecting consumer goods and daily living costs.
Reports from pharmacies indicate that prices for certain medicines have already begun to shift in recent weeks.
Any sustained increase in oncology drug costs could place additional financial strain on patients and their families, as such treatments typically require long-term and continuous use.
Medical expert Rasif Bagirov said the most frequent price increases are observed in medicines containing biologically active substances, which tend to be more sensitive to cost fluctuations and may continue to rise.
By contrast, drugs used to treat arterial hypertension, as well as several psychotropic medications, have so far remained relatively stable in price. Pain relief medicines also tend to experience less frequent price changes.
However, medications related to joint disorders and digestive system treatment are among those more commonly subject to price volatility.
The issue highlights broader concerns about healthcare affordability as Azerbaijan navigates inflationary trends affecting multiple sectors of the economy.
