Green Alycha In Azerbaijan Hits 200 Manats Per Kilogram

Green alycha has soared in price in Azerbaijan, with sellers in local markets offering the early-season fruit for as much as 200 manats per kilogram.

The sharp price tag has made alycha one of the most expensive seasonal products currently on sale, far above the level many buyers would consider affordable. Vendors say the fruit is still in its earliest market phase, when supply remains limited and prices tend to be unusually high.

Some traders say even the current level may not be the peak. According to sellers cited in local reporting, the price of green alycha could rise further in the coming days and in some cases may even approach 400 manats per kilogram before broader supply reaches the market.

The broader picture in Azerbaijan’s produce markets shows the same early-season pattern. While some vegetables such as new potatoes are already available at lower prices in certain regions, the first batches of spring fruit are entering the market at what buyers describe as “burning” prices.

Apricots are also being sold at elevated rates. Sellers say a glass of early apricots can cost around 40 manats, underscoring how expensive seasonal fruit remains before the market becomes fully supplied.

Traders say prices should ease in the coming months as more fruit arrives and supply improves. For now, however, alycha has become the clearest symbol of how costly the first taste of the season can be in Azerbaijan.
