Authorities recorded 1,252 accidents nationwide, leaving 1,026 people injured.
Overall casualties fell by 12.1% to 1,715. Most incidents occurred in populated areas, which accounted for roughly 85% of crashes, with 484 fatalities and 960 injuries.
