Where Azerbaijanis Spend Their Millions Abroad

In 2025, Azerbaijani citizens traveling overseas directed most of their spending toward transportation, lodging, and dining, according to statistical data cited by Valyuta.az. The bulk of these expenditures was concentrated in two destinations – Turkey and Russia.

More than 745 million manats were spent on transportation services alone. Of that total, 285 million manats went to Turkey, while 101 million manats were spent in Russia.

Accommodation costs exceeded 450 million manats, including 187 million manats in Turkey and 65 million manats in the Russian Federation.

Food expenses also remained substantial, reaching 402.8 million manats. Turkey and Russia again led the ranking, while the lowest spending was recorded in South Korea at just 56,200 manats.

Cultural activities followed a similar pattern. Azerbaijani tourists spent nearly 2.5 million manats on cultural events in Turkey in 2025, whereas the Netherlands saw minimal interest, with only 1,100 manats in related spending.

Overall, purchases of goods and gifts abroad totaled 327.4 million manats. Approximately 190 million manats of that amount was spent in Turkey and 40 million manats in Russia.
