Azerbaijan is considering removing a provision that limits its law on electronic commerce to transactions within the country, as lawmakers review amendments covering technology and payment methods.
The Milli Majlis committee on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship discussed the proposals on Oct. 20, Report said.
The current law applies only to electronic commerce conducted on Azerbaijani territory. The bill would delete that territorial limitation.

The changes were prepared under the implementation plan for Azerbaijan’s 2022-2026 socioeconomic development strategy. Its objectives in this area include removing barriers to e-commerce and reducing illegal transactions.
The proposals remain at the parliamentary committee discussion stage. The report did not specify when the amendments would take effect.
