Azerbaijan’s banks earned a combined net profit of 858.7 million manats ($505.1 million) in the first seven months of 2026.
Profit increased 25.8% from the same period last year, AZE.US reports, citing Central Bank data.
Operating profit reached 1.31 billion manats ($769 million), while banks paid 213.4 million manats ($125.5 million) in profit tax.
The sector’s total assets rose 9.5% year over year to 60.98 billion manats ($35.87 billion) as of Aug. 1.
Net loans to customers increased 12.5% to 30.15 billion manats ($17.73 billion). Loans accounted for 49.4% of banking assets, up from 48.1% a year earlier.
Deposits grew 10.2% to 40.39 billion manats ($23.76 billion). Individual customers held 17.47 billion manats ($10.27 billion), while corporate deposits totaled 22.93 billion manats ($13.49 billion).
Household deposits increased 15.6%, compared with 6.45% growth in funds held by companies.
Bank profits are rising considerably faster than the broader economy. A fuller assessment, however, requires comparing those earnings with lending rates, portfolio quality and the volume of overdue loans.
