Property insurance premiums collected in Azerbaijan increased sharply during the first seven months of 2026, while claims payments grew at a considerably slower pace.
AZE.US reports, citing Report, that insurers collected 179.28 million manats, or approximately $105.5 million, in property insurance premiums in January-July.
The figure was 23.8% higher than during the same period of 2025.
Property insurance payouts rose 11.9% to 27.46 million manats, or about $16.2 million.
Insurers therefore paid 15.3 manats in claims for every 100 manats collected in premiums. A year earlier, the corresponding figure stood at 17 manats.
Across Azerbaijan’s entire insurance market, 16 companies collected more than 1.006 billion manats, or approximately $592 million, in premiums – an increase of 7.3%.
Total insurance payouts climbed 26.9% to 671.44 million manats, or nearly $395 million. The market-wide payout ratio increased from 56.4 manats to 66.7 manats for every 100 manats collected.
The payout ratio should not be treated as a measure of insurers’ net profit, since companies must also cover operating expenses and maintain reserves for future claims.
