Jafarli: Conflict Around Iran May End by Late March

The ongoing conflict around Iran could come to an end by late March, according to Azerbaijani political analyst and head of the REAL party Natig Jafarli.

Writing on Facebook, Jafarli suggested the timeline may be linked to a planned trip by U.S. President Donald Trump to China expected in late March or early April.

According to him, Trump could seek to declare political success before the visit.

“The conflict around Iran should end by the end of March. In late March or early April Trump will travel to China and may declare himself the winner,” Jafarli wrote.

Strategic focus on the Strait of Hormuz

Jafarli argued that the main strategic objective of the United States in the current confrontation is control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most critical global energy chokepoints.

A significant portion of the world’s oil exports passes through the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to international shipping routes.

He suggested that any potential agreement related to the conflict could revolve around control and security of this route.

Changing U.S. global strategy

Jafarli also claimed that Washington has gradually moved away from seeking total global dominance and is instead focusing on a more pragmatic strategy.

According to him, the United States aims to maintain full influence in the Western Hemisphere, while securing the ability to exercise “blocking power” over key global logistics routes.

“Tactics may sometimes appear weak, but the strategic goals are highly pragmatic,” he wrote.

Jafarli added that while U.S. actions may be controversial and unacceptable for many countries, they are largely driven by Washington’s own national interests.

Control over major global energy and logistics corridors, he argued, effectively translates into influence over the global economy.
