U.S. President Donald Trump said American forces have struck more than 7,000 targets in Iran since the start of the conflict, describing the campaign as a major blow to Tehran’s military capabilities.

Speaking about the operation, Trump said most of the strikes targeted military facilities and related infrastructure across the country.

He also claimed U.S. forces destroyed over 30 Iranian vessels used for laying naval mines, adding that Iran now has far fewer missiles available than before the war.

Trump noted that Washington deliberately avoided attacks on key oil infrastructure, including facilities on Kharg Island, which is Iran’s main oil export hub. According to him, those facilities were spared to avoid long-term economic damage, although he warned that they could be targeted if the conflict escalates.

The U.S. president also criticized some American allies for refusing to send naval forces to help secure shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor through which a large share of the world’s oil exports passes.

Trump said countries that rely heavily on energy shipments through the strait should take a greater role in protecting maritime traffic.

The U.S. and Israel launched a military operation against Iran in late February, and the two sides have continued to exchange strikes since then. The conflict has already disrupted regional air travel and raised concerns about global energy supplies due to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
