Baku Cuts Speed Limits by 20–40 km/h on Airport Roads During Rain

Baku authorities temporarily reduced speed limits on two major road corridors by 20 to 40 kilometers per hour on Oct. 3 because of rain and slippery pavement.

The speed limit was cut by 40 km/h on the road from the Zigh circle toward Heydar Aliyev International Airport and by 20 km/h on all lanes between Heydar Aliyev Avenue and the Mardakan bridge, according to the Interior Ministry’s Intelligent Transport Management Center.

The center updated electronic traffic boards along both routes and activated “Slippery Road” warnings. Drivers were asked to follow the temporary limits displayed on the signs.

APA reported that the restrictions were introduced across all lanes on the affected sections. Vesti Baku also reported the changes.

Officials did not announce when the normal limits would be restored, indicating that the temporary measures depend on weather and road conditions.
