BAKU, Azerbaijan - Azerbaijan is developing a unified digital platform for ambulance dispatch that would map emergency calls, track crews in real time and route the nearest available team to patients, the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units, known as TƏBİB, said.
The platform has been developed and preparations for its implementation are underway, Report said on Oct. 16.
Ambulance crews are expected to receive tablets carrying electronic call information and allowing medical workers to enter patient and treatment data at the scene. In difficult cases, the system would also let crews consult specialists remotely.
Drivers would use mobile navigation devices that receive the destination automatically, reducing the need to relay addresses manually and helping teams reach calls more quickly.
TƏBİB said artificial-intelligence tools would analyze the geography, frequency and density of calls. The data could then be used to plan the number and location of ambulance teams and stations.
The agency did not provide a nationwide launch date, the number of devices to be issued or a guaranteed reduction in response times. The system therefore remains an implementation project rather than a fully deployed national service.
