BAKU, Azerbaijan - President Ilham Aliyev has extended through 2029 the period during which state compulsory personal insurance funds may be used to finance housing for martyr families and people with war-related disabilities, as well as rehabilitation support for people with disabilities.
The Oct. 16 presidential order was published on the official website of the Azerbaijani presidency. The previous version of the measure ran through 2026.
The change amends presidential Order No. 3493, dated Sept. 29, 2022. Insurance funds accumulated from 2022 through 2029 may now be used for the specified social programs, replacing the previous 2022-2026 period.
The funding covers apartments or individual homes for families of people recognized as martyrs and for people whose disabilities are connected to the defense of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, independence and constitutional order, APA reported.
The second area covers rehabilitation devices and services for people with disabilities under the relevant law. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is responsible for financing the measures.
The order extends the funding period but does not set a new benefit amount or a housing-delivery date for any individual family.
