Azerbaijan has discovered 32 mass graves and identified the remains of 328 missing people through DNA testing, presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev said.
The figures were released on August 30, International Day of the Disappeared.
According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan’s State Commission continues to locate missing citizens, recover their remains and return them to families that have lived with uncertainty for decades.
The work includes checking witness accounts, examining suspected burial sites, excavating mass graves and conducting forensic and DNA tests.
Hajiyev called on Armenia to provide accurate and comprehensive information about missing Azerbaijanis, including the locations where they may have been buried.
He described such cooperation as a humanitarian obligation needed to provide answers to thousands of affected families.
Search operations are continuing despite difficult terrain, severe weather conditions and dangers posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance.
“Every family has the right to know the fate of their loved ones. Every missing person has a name. Every family deserves an answer,” Hajiyev said.
