President Ilham Aliyev on Sept. 22 chaired a meeting on Azerbaijan’s state program for developing the mining and metallurgical industries in 2027–2030.
Aliyev addressed the meeting on a program intended to cover the full production chain, from mining metal ores to manufacturing finished products, according to Vesti Baku. Detailed remarks from the president had not yet been released.
Program Targets
Under an order Aliyev signed on April 1, 2026, the state program is expected to expand metal processing, increase export capacity and support private investment in the industry.
Azeraluminium has been tasked with increasing annual electrolytic production capacity to 100,000 metric tons by 2030 and raising aluminum-rolled-product output to 50,000 tons.
The plan also calls for the construction of calcination and anode-baking plants, improvements to energy and transportation tariffs, and the allocation of land and electricity supplies for industrial enterprises.
The metallurgy program is to be coordinated with Azerbaijan’s 2027–2030 socioeconomic development strategy and the second “Great Return” program for the liberated territories.
