Oil transported through the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline fell 8.3% year over year to 127.893 million barrels in January-August 2026.
The volume was 11.557 million barrels lower than in the same period of 2025, according to figures from Turkish pipeline operator BOTAŞ cited by Vesti Baku.
The decline continued in August, when 15.112 million barrels were transported through the pipeline. That was 1.582 million barrels, or 9.5%, below the level recorded a year earlier.
What the BTC Pipeline Carries
The pipeline is primarily used to export crude from Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oilfield block and condensate from the Shah Deniz gas field. It also carries some oil and condensate from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
A total of 206.434 million barrels passed through the Turkish section of the BTC pipeline in 2025. The latest figures point to a significant decline in traffic along one of the region’s main energy export routes.
