Azerbaijan’s pomegranate harvest could rise 5% to 7% in 2026 from last year’s 187,137.4 metric tons, while initial purchasing prices in some regions are about 1.10 manats per kilogram.
Farhad Garashov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association, said final data would be available after harvesting ends, which could run through December in some districts.
If the forecast is met, this year’s crop would approach 197,000 to 200,000 tons.
Russia Remains the Main Market
About 84% of Azerbaijan’s pomegranate exports go to Russia. Fresh fruit is shipped to 16 countries, while processed products are sold to 27 countries.
The main production centers remain Goychay, Kurdamir, Hajigabul, Sabirabad and Saatli. Karabakh produced 9,200 tons last year.
Prices and Harvest Risks
The preliminary purchasing price at the start of the season is about 1.10 manats per kilogram in some districts. The final price will depend on variety, quality, supply and demand.
Producers cite rising costs, expensive logistics and the quality and price of fertilizers and crop-protection products among their main problems. Product and logistics subsidies are available in 2026 for pomegranates delivered to processors for juice and concentrate production.
