BAKU, Azerbaijan — President Ilham Aliyev discussed new investment projects with the head of U.S.-based Neuberger Berman, which manages $613 billion in assets.

Aliyev met the company’s chairman and chief executive, George Walker, on Sept. 25.

The talks covered existing investment cooperation, opportunities in global markets and projects of mutual interest. The two sides also discussed expanding their long-term partnership.

The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan has worked with Neuberger Berman since 2016. Their cooperation covers private equity, private debt and other investment areas, and the meeting included discussion of possible participation in new projects.

Aliyev also cited the Strategic Partnership Charter signed by the governments of Azerbaijan and the United States in February, describing it as the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations.

Neuberger Berman was founded in New York in 1939. Its global private-markets platform manages more than $170 billion in commitments, while the portfolios of its funds encompass more than 10,400 companies.
