President Ilham Aliyev has signed a law approving the Treaty on Allied Relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.

The signature marks a new legal step after Azerbaijan’s parliament ratified the treaty on October 13. The two countries have not separately announced completion of the exchange of ratification instruments or the treaty’s entry into force, Vesti Baku reported.

Aliyev and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the treaty in Cholpon-Ata on July 31, 2026. The Azerbaijani presidency said at the time that the agreement elevated bilateral relations to an allied level. The official signing record lists the treaty among the documents exchanged during Aliyev’s state visit.

APA confirmed Aliyev’s approval of the law on October 21.

The president also approved a host-country agreement concerning the Secretariat of the Youth Organization of the Non-Aligned Movement. That document governs the secretariat’s location and operations in Azerbaijan.
