Azerbaijan is considering exempting foreign agronomists, horticulture specialists and veterinarians hired by agropark residents from work-permit requirements, while also providing a basis for temporary residence.
The Milli Majlis committee on legal policy and state building reviewed proposed amendments to the Migration Code on Oct. 20, APA and Report reported.
The proposed exemptions would not cover all foreign agricultural workers. They would apply to specialists with experience in the relevant field who are hired by agropark residents to work in Azerbaijan.
The bill would also include the heads and deputy heads of agropark residents where the resident is a legal entity. It would broaden the categories of foreign nationals and stateless people eligible for the relevant migration arrangements.
The proposed regime would run from Jan. 1, 2027, to Jan. 1, 2032.
The amendments remain under discussion. Consideration by a parliamentary committee does not mean the exemptions have already taken effect.
