Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency has warned information platforms claiming to represent the country’s ethnic communities that they must comply with national media legislation.

AZE.US reports that the agency said all organizations conducting media activity in Azerbaijan must meet the requirements of the Media Law and be listed in the official Media Registry.

The statement specifically named Ajmedia.news, which presents itself as a portal established at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Jewish Media Center and public figures of Jewish origin.

According to the agency, Ajmedia.news is not listed in the registry and has failed to comply with professional media ethics. MEDİA also said a court had issued a decision declaring the outlet’s operation unlawful over violations of the Media Law.

The agency called on all media organizations, including those speaking on behalf of ethnic communities or social groups, to provide accurate and transparent information about their legal status, professional role and representative authority.

The statement carried by APA did not include a response from Ajmedia.news.
