BAKU, Oct. 20 - Turkey’s Center for Countering Disinformation said old footage from Azerbaijan was being circulated as a new incident and rejected reports of an attempt to lower a Turkish flag as disinformation.
The center, part of the Turkish presidency’s Directorate of Communications, made the statement on X, APA reported on Oct. 20.
According to the center, the video shows an earlier episode in which Azerbaijani citizens were the first to respond, and did so most forcefully, to a provocation against the Turkish flag. The flag was not lowered, it said.
The center said presenting old footage out of context as a new event was aimed at undermining relations between Baku and Ankara. It urged the public to treat such claims with caution.
The account of the statement did not specify the exact date or location of the footage.
