A resident of Azerbaijan’s Tovuz district says she lost both her car and the money she had paid after entering into a vehicle leasing agreement.
According to Vesti Baku, Elnura Chobanova purchased a Changan vehicle in April 2026 through Sandeer Cars Leasing.
She made an initial payment of AZN 5,500, approximately $3,235, while the remaining amount was scheduled to be paid over 26 months in monthly installments of AZN 1,000, or about $588.
However, after making the first monthly payment, Chobanova says the vehicle was unexpectedly taken from her.
She claims she was not informed where the car had been taken or on what grounds it was removed. She was also unable to recover either the initial payment or the additional money she had paid.
A subsequent review found that Sandeer Cars Leasing was no longer operating.
According to information obtained during the investigation, police determined that Mushvig Abuzarli and several alleged accomplices may have taken money from citizens after promising to sell them vehicles through credit arrangements.
A criminal case has been opened by the Surakhani District Police Department in connection with the alleged fraud.
The investigation is continuing. Authorities are expected to determine the number of victims, the total amount of financial damage and the role of each person involved.
