Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed strategic projects in energy, investment and digital technology, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, during an October 5 phone call.
The talks covered the current state and future direction of the Azerbaijan-U.S. strategic partnership, according to a statement by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The two officials noted progress in bilateral relations since the leaders’ summit in Washington on August 8, 2025. They also emphasized the work of specialized groups assigned to priority areas under the Azerbaijan-U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter.
Energy, Investment and Digital Cooperation
Bayramov and Rubio reviewed practical cooperation developed in 2026. The ministry said documents signed during Baku Energy Week and the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum expanded ties in energy, hydrocarbon exploration and production, investment, digital technologies and trade.
The discussion reflects an effort by Baku and Washington to turn their strategic framework into specific commercial and institutional projects rather than limit it to political declarations.
Armenia-Azerbaijan Normalization
Bayramov briefed Rubio on steps Azerbaijan says it has taken to advance the peace agenda, build confidence and strengthen regional stability. The officials exchanged views on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and other issues of mutual interest.
APA, citing the Foreign Ministry, reported that the working groups and recently signed agreements had significantly broadened the practical scope of bilateral cooperation.
