Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan briefed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on work to implement the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, or TRIPP, during an October 5 visit to Tehran.
The Armenian side said the meeting focused on infrastructure, energy cooperation and the reopening of regional transport links. Mirzoyan and Pezeshkian also exchanged views on regional stability and security.
No new timetable for launching the route or details about financing were announced after the meeting.
Second Border Bridge and Third Power Line
In separate talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Mirzoyan discussed construction of a second bridge on the Armenia-Iran border and the need to complete the third power transmission line between the two countries as soon as possible.
The ministers also discussed steps to simplify freight transportation and the broader benefits of reopening regional communications, according to Armenpress.
Mirzoyan outlined the ongoing work on TRIPP and the opportunities Armenian officials say it could create for countries across the region. The two sides also highlighted Iran’s support for Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative.
Regional Connectivity Remains the Focus
TRIPP is a planned transport and supporting infrastructure project on Armenian territory. It is tied to the wider effort to reopen communications in the South Caucasus and is intended in part to provide a connection between mainland Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan exclave.
Report and Anadolu Agency also reported the discussions on the bridge, power line, freight traffic and TRIPP.
The talks concerned implementation planning and related infrastructure rather than the start of full commercial operation.
