The Zangezur Corridor will be included in transport discussions at the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States, according to Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

Uraloglu said preparations for the summit’s transport agenda were underway. The meeting is expected to address the Zangezur Corridor, the Middle Corridor and Türkiye’s Development Road project.

Ankara says it is carrying out its share of the planned work, while construction is also continuing in Azerbaijan. The 13th summit is scheduled to be held in Türkiye on October 29-30, according to the Organization of Turkic States.

224-Kilometer Railway

A central part of the planned route is the 224-kilometer Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway. Türkiye says the project would strengthen rail links among Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Turkish project is designed as a double-track, electrified and signaled railway with capacity for up to 5.5 million passengers and 15 million metric tons of freight a year. Türkiye previously secured €2.4 billion in external financing for the line.

The railway is intended to complement the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line and create another route between Türkiye and the South Caucasus. Uraloglu separately confirmed that construction of the 224-kilometer project is continuing, according to APA.
