Russian airstrikes killed at least 15 people, including three children, in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region on Oct. 10, Ukrainian officials said. At least 16 others were wounded.

Guided aerial bombs struck residential buildings in the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. Rescue crews continued clearing rubble and evacuating people from damaged homes.

Reuters initially reported 12 deaths and 14 injuries in the city. The Associated Press later cited Ukrainian authorities’ updated total for the wider Zaporizhzhia region: 15 dead and at least 16 wounded.

Kyiv Also Hit

Missiles struck Kyiv the same day. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said four people were wounded. Parts of the capital and the surrounding region experienced power outages, while metro service was temporarily halted.

AP reported that more than 60 people had been killed across Ukraine during four days of intensified Russian bombardment. Reuters said several parts of Zaporizhzhia appeared to have been struck almost simultaneously.

Attack Follows Dispute Over Diesel Deal

The strike came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin involving Russian diesel supplies. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy argued that easing pressure on Moscow would encourage Russia to continue the war.

No evidence has been presented linking the fuel agreement to the planning of the specific Zaporizhzhia strikes. Russian authorities had not commented on reports that residential buildings were hit at the time of publication.
