Azerbaijan’s Media and Broadcasting Council has alleged that coordinated information campaigns originating from Iran and Turkey are seeking to manipulate public opinion and interfere in the country’s internal affairs.
The council said more than 400 posts carrying the same Azerbaijani-language hashtag appeared within a short period, citing the activity as one sign of coordination. Its statement was reported by APA and Report, and summarized in Russian by Vesti Baku.
According to the council, the suspected campaigns included posts with identical spelling mistakes and writing styles, copied comments, repeated material from a small group of accounts, and edited photographs and videos unrelated to Azerbaijan.
The activity was concentrated mainly on Telegram, X and TikTok, the council said. It also alleged that anonymous accounts had sought to encourage Azerbaijani citizens to disrupt public order.
Attribution Details Not Released
The council did not identify the alleged organizers or specific accounts in its public statement. It also did not release technical attribution data supporting its assessment that the campaigns originated in Iran and Turkey.
The claims about the source and coordination of the activity therefore remain the Azerbaijani regulator’s official assessment. No response from Iranian or Turkish authorities was included in the statement.
The council urged citizens, news organizations and social-media users to verify information before sharing it and to avoid amplifying false or manipulated content.
