Rain, locally heavy downpours, thunderstorms and hail are forecast in Azerbaijan on Oct. 21–23, with a risk of short-lived flooding and mudflows on some rivers in the Greater Caucasus and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The National Hydrometeorological Service issued the warning Oct. 20, according to Report and APA.
Rain is expected mainly in mountain and foothill districts Oct. 21. Intermittent rain is forecast in parts of the country Oct. 22–23.
Some locations could see brief, intense downpours, lightning and hail, with precipitation likely to intensify in places Oct. 22. Rain could turn to snow at high elevations.
The precipitation is expected to raise river levels. The warning concerns possible flooding and mudflows; it does not report that flooding has already occurred.
