Azerbaijan has approved a memorandum with the United Nations climate secretariat covering Climate Week 4 and the 30th meeting of the Adaptation Committee. The law approving the document was published Oct. 20.
The law posted on the presidential website bears President Ilham Aliyev’s signature and is dated Oct. 13, 2026.
The memorandum is between Azerbaijan’s government and the secretariat of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. It was signed in Bonn on Sept. 1, 2026, and in Baku on Sept. 2.
The newly published law approves that previously signed document; it does not mark a new signing. Its stated scope is the two specified events, Climate Week 4 and the Adaptation Committee’s 30th meeting.
The text of the law does not specify new national emissions-reduction targets or funding amounts.
