Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
President Ilham Aliyev received Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, in Baku on March 6.
During the meeting, Popșoi thanked the Azerbaijani leader for the reception and conveyed greetings from Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
Aliyev expressed appreciation for the message and asked that his greetings be conveyed in return. The Azerbaijani president also recalled with satisfaction his previous meetings and discussions with Sandu within the framework of international organizations.
Popșoi stated that Moldova strongly condemns the recent drone attacks carried out against Azerbaijan and expressed solidarity with the country. He also wished a swift recovery to those injured in the incident.
The Moldovan official noted that friendly relations exist between the peoples of the two countries and emphasized that Moldova remembers and highly values Azerbaijan’s support during difficult periods.
Aliyev thanked his guest for the expressed position.
During the talks, the sides reaffirmed that Azerbaijan and Moldova consistently support each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. They also highlighted the development of bilateral relations, including cooperation in political, economic, trade, energy and other sectors.
The importance of reciprocal visits at different levels for expanding bilateral ties was also emphasized. Both sides expressed confidence that Popșoi’s visit would contribute to further strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on cooperation within international organizations, the intensification of political dialogue and other issues of mutual interest.
