Several major ride-hailing services operating in Baku have sharply increased prices since the start of June.
According to local media reports, fares on Yango have risen by about 40% to 50%. Prices on Bolt are also reported to have increased by roughly 40%.
The increases are said to reflect higher base fares rather than temporary surge pricing linked to rain, rush hour demand or traffic congestion.
During periods of bad weather, heavy traffic or peak demand, trip costs can still rise by two to three times above standard rates.
Requests for comment have been sent to the taxi companies. No official explanation for the price increases has yet been released.
