Azerbaijani People’s Artist, composer and lawmaker Polad Bulbuloglu has reportedly married for the third time, with local media identifying his new wife as Honored Artist, dancer and educator Eteri Jafarova.

The information was reported by Publika.az, which said Jafarova is Bulbuloglu’s new spouse. Neither Bulbuloglu nor Jafarova has publicly confirmed the marriage.

Born in 1978, Jafarova is a prominent figure in Azerbaijani dance. She teaches at the Department of National and Modern Dance at the Baku Academy of Choreography and has spent years training young professional dancers.

She has participated in state ceremonies, cultural projects and festivals, and has maintained a long-standing professional relationship with Bulbuloglu.

In February 2025, Jafarova served as chief choreographer for “Return,” a gala marking Bulbuloglu’s 80th birthday at the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku. She has also appeared as a solo dancer in choreographed performances accompanying Azerbaijani folk songs performed by Bulbuloglu. Her role in the anniversary concert was documented in media coverage published after the event.

Earlier reports said Bulbuloglu had divorced Gulnara Shikhalieva, whom he married in 1997, and entered a new marriage. According to Gununsesi.info, he recently attended a music festival in Gabala with his new partner, after which the couple reportedly traveled to Bodrum for a vacation. The claims were subsequently republished by several Azerbaijani outlets.

Bulbuloglu was born on Feb. 4, 1945, and is now 81. He has three children from his previous marriages: Teymur, Leyla and Murtuza.

Journalists who previously sought comment from Bulbuloglu said their calls and messages went unanswered. No official statement confirming the reported marriage has been released.

A prominent singer, composer and diplomat, Bulbuloglu served as Azerbaijan’s culture minister from 1988 to 2006 and as the country’s ambassador to Russia from 2006 to 2024. He currently represents Azerbaijan’s parliament.
