Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have launched 10 joint investment projects worth a combined $389 million, including the construction of a network of SOCAR filling stations.
Jasurbek Choriyev, secretary-general of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, disclosed the program’s value. He served as Uzbekistan’s deputy transport minister when the interview was prepared.
The projects were launched during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Uzbekistan on Aug. 23-24.
SOCAR to Start With Five Stations
In the first phase, SOCAR plans to build five filling stations in the Namangan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.
Another project calls for the creation of an “Azerbaijan” park on a four-hectare site in the New Tashkent development.
The published announcement did not provide a full list of the remaining projects or their implementation schedules.
