A Baku resident, Leyla Ahmadova, died after receiving treatment at the Topchubashov Scientific Surgery Center, with authorities investigating whether her death was connected to an earlier dental procedure.
Ahmadova’s family says her condition deteriorated after she sought treatment for a toothache at a clinic in the Baku settlement of Bilgah. No causal link between the dental intervention and her death has been established, Vesti Baku reported.
According to an ITV report, dentist Samir Novruzov carried out the procedure. Relatives said Ahmadova’s health began to worsen afterward.
Her mother said Ahmadova experienced a sharp pain during an injection. The pain and swelling later intensified, prompting the family to seek help from other doctors before she was taken to a hospital.
Ahmadova received treatment and underwent surgery at the scientific center named after academician Mirasadulla Topchubashov, but doctors were unable to save her.
ITV said its reporting team went to the clinic to seek comment from Novruzov but did not find him in his office and was unable to contact him.
Azerbaijan’s Health Ministry said law-enforcement agencies were examining the circumstances surrounding the death at the medical facility. Investigators must determine whether the death was linked to the dental treatment.
