Construction of the Aghdam–Khankendi railway is 48% complete, while design work has reached 90%, Azerbaijan Railways said.
The new line, which will become one of Karabakh’s transportation routes, will extend 30.8 kilometers, according to Vesti Baku.
Project Includes 130 Engineering Structures
The project calls for 130 engineering structures, including six bridges, five road overpasses, two pedestrian crossings and 47 reserve crossings.
Design concepts for planned stations in Askeran and Khojaly have been completed. Construction is also continuing on a combined railway and bus terminal in Khankendi designed to serve hundreds of passengers each day.
Restoring the rail link is expected to strengthen transportation connections across the liberated territories and support both the return of residents and economic activity in the region.
