Azerbaijan has dispatched another 977 tons of diesel fuel to Armenia while allowing additional Russian grain, fertilizer and timber shipments to transit through Azerbaijani territory.
Sixteen rail tank cars carrying Azerbaijani diesel departed from the Bilajari station on September 5 and headed toward the Boyuk Kesik border station.
It was the second diesel shipment in several days. Azerbaijan sent another 989 tons of fuel to Armenia on September 3.
The repeated deliveries indicate that what began as isolated shipments is developing into a more regular commercial channel between the two countries.
Russian Cargo Moves Through Azerbaijan
Russian goods were also transported to Armenia through Azerbaijan on the same day.
The cargo included:
- Five railcars carrying 355 tons of wheat;
- Three railcars carrying 180 tons of fertilizer;
- Two railcars carrying 138 tons of timber.
Approximately 60,000 tons of Russian grain have now been transported to Armenia through Azerbaijan.
Other transit shipments have included around 9,000 tons of fertilizer, 1,414 tons of propane, 1,114 tons of coal, 334 tons of timber and 133 tons of aluminum.
Direct Azerbaijani fuel exports to Armenia have reached approximately 16,000 tons of diesel and nearly 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
Why It Matters
For Armenia, the route provides an additional channel for receiving fuel and Russian commodities.
For Azerbaijan, the shipments generate transit activity and strengthen the country’s position as a transport hub linking Russia with the South Caucasus.
The borders and regional transportation links have not yet been fully opened. Nevertheless, the growing movement of fuel, grain and industrial materials shows that economic normalization is already producing measurable results.
