More than 200 homes in Mashtagha, a settlement within Baku, fall within the area affected by plans to restore the Zabrat–Mashtagha–Baglar railway line. Demolition has already been completed at more than 100 structures, according to a Vesti Baku report citing a video account of the works.
Gas lines are being relocated along the planned route. Property owners have been contacted, agreements signed and compensation paid, the report said, citing Azerbaijan Railways.
One resident interviewed in the video said compensation was 1,200 manats (about $706) per square meter. The report did not give an official standard compensation rate.
More than 40% of the line’s design work has been completed. The old Mashtagha station is expected to be replaced with a new building. Restoring the route is part of a 2025–2030 government program to improve transport infrastructure in Baku and its surrounding areas.
