Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Germany on July 20 for an official visit focused on expanding economic and business cooperation between the two countries.
Aliyev was welcomed by German officials at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, where an honor guard was assembled for his arrival.
Later in Berlin, the Azerbaijani leader met Michael Harms, chairman of the German Eastern Business Association.
The two sides discussed growing interest among Azerbaijani and German companies in joint projects, as well as possible ways to place business cooperation on a more institutional footing.
The talks covered opportunities in traditional and renewable energy, transportation and logistics, including connectivity through the Middle Corridor.
Aliyev and Harms also discussed the possible use of advanced German technologies in Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector. Particular attention was given to cooperation in smart farming as Azerbaijan moves forward with a new state agriculture program.
The meeting also addressed Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and other areas of mutual interest.
