A monument to Belgian-American action star JeanClaude Van Damme has been reinstalled at its original location in the village of Vandam in Azerbaijan’s Gabala district.

Footage from the site was shared on social media by journalist Shakir Eminbeyli.

The sculpture, created by Azerbaijani artist Azad Aliyev, was first installed in Vandam several years ago. It was removed around two years ago while renovation work was being carried out in the area.

Van Damme himself drew attention to the unusual tribute in 2019, when he shared a photograph of the monument with his followers on social media.

The village’s name, Vandam, closely resembles the actor’s surname, making the monument a popular local landmark and social media curiosity.
