Shepherd Injured in Landmine Explosion in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil District

A 26-year-old resident was injured after stepping on an antipersonnel mine while grazing livestock in an uncleared area near the village of Dagmashanli in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district.

The incident occurred on Oct. 8, according to a joint statement by Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry, Prosecutor General’s Office and Mine Action Agency, known as ANAMA, cited by Vesti Baku.

The injured man was identified as Orkhan Ashraf oghlu Gahramanov, born in 2000. Authorities said he suffered injuries of varying severity. No additional information about his condition was available at the time of publication.

Investigation Underway

The Jabrayil District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances of the explosion.

ANAMA, the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office renewed their warning not to enter unfamiliar or uncleared areas, to observe mine-warning signs, to avoid touching suspicious objects and not to interfere with protective barriers.
