Must read

President Ilham Aliyev has urged more Austrian companies to enter Azerbaijan as the two countries seek to expand investment, political dialogue and energy cooperation.

Aliyev made the remarks on October 5 while receiving the credentials of Austria’s new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Etienne Berchtold.

The president said Austrian companies have operated in Azerbaijan for many years and called for a larger business presence. He identified trade, mutual investment, culture and political contacts as promising areas.

The meeting also covered European energy security. The two sides noted that Azerbaijani natural gas deliveries to Austria began in January 2026.

Political and International Cooperation

Aliyev and Berchtold discussed reciprocal visits, political consultations, interparliamentary ties and cooperation in international organizations. The ambassador said he would work to deepen bilateral relations.
