Azerbaijani Gas Now Reaches 10 EU Countries as Energy Ties Expand

Must read

Azerbaijani natural gas now reaches 10 European Union countries after Germany and Austria began receiving supplies in 2026, while Brussels and Baku are also expanding cooperation on renewable energy and power infrastructure.

Azerbaijan supplied 12.8 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in 2025 and more than 7 billion cubic meters during the first eight months of 2026, according to figures presented at an Oct. 2 high-level energy dialogue in Brussels. The figures and the addition of Germany and Austria were reported by Report.

The European Commission said gas would remain an important part of its energy partnership with Azerbaijan, according to a Vesti Baku report. The talks also covered renewable energy, power-grid modernization, green energy corridors, energy efficiency and efforts to cut methane emissions.

Expansion Depends on Infrastructure

The broader market increases the strategic importance of the Southern Gas Corridor as the EU diversifies its energy supplies. Azerbaijan began deliveries to Germany and Austria through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline this year, expanding the reach of its exports.

The larger customer base does not automatically mean a sharp increase in volumes. Further growth will depend on upstream production, pipeline capacity, financing and commercial contracts.
