BAKU, Azerbaijan - Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates have launched the joint flight-tactical exercise “Falcons Meet 2026,” bringing together military aircraft and air-defense units from both countries.
The opening ceremony was held Oct. 12 at an Azerbaijani Air Force base. Participants were briefed on the exercise scenario and the tasks planned for the practical phase.
Military Cooperation
The drills are being conducted under a protocol adopted at the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Committee on Military Cooperation.
Maj. Gen. Zaur Rustamov said the joint training would strengthen coordination between the two countries’ armed forces.
Azerbaijan has not disclosed the length of the exercise, the size of the aviation group or the specific air-defense systems involved. Officials also have not announced live-fire exercises.
The drills extend growing military cooperation between Baku and Abu Dhabi. Azerbaijani service members took part in the UAE-hosted Peace Shield 2026 joint operational-tactical exercise in February, which included counterterrorism training and experience-sharing.
