Azerbaijan has set new tariffs for motorcycles on paid sections of the country’s highways.
The decision was approved at a meeting of the Tariff Council, local media reported.
Under the new rates, motorcycles will be charged 4.65 gapiks per 1 kilometer on the paid section of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway. That is about 2.7 U.S. cents per kilometer.
For the M-1 Baku-Guba-Russian border highway, the motorcycle tariff was set at 5 gapiks per 1 kilometer, or about 2.9 U.S. cents.
The Tariff Council said revenue from paid roads is used to finance the maintenance, protection and repair of paid highways, toll collection points, and roads of national and local importance.
The funds may also be directed toward the management of paid highways, as well as the design, reconstruction and construction of road infrastructure.
