Azerbaijan and Lithuania held political consultations in Vilnius, with talks covering bilateral ties, relations with the European Union and the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.

The meeting was led by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev and Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Audra Plepyte, according to Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry.

The two sides discussed prospects for expanding political, economic, cultural and educational cooperation. They also reviewed Azerbaijan’s engagement with the European Union and coordination within international organizations.

The geopolitical situation in Europe and the South Caucasus was another focus of the talks, including Azerbaijan’s role in regional developments.

Lithuania welcomed progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and expressed hope that a peace agreement would be signed soon, helping secure long-term stability in the region.

Plepyte also highlighted Azerbaijan’s energy assistance to Ukraine. She said sustained support for Kyiv was important both for protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for strengthening security and stability across Europe.
