More than 41 people diagnosed with cancer every day in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan registered 15,144 first-time cancer diagnoses in 2025, meaning more than 41 people were diagnosed with malignant tumors every day on average.

The figures were reported by the State Statistics Committee, according to local media.

Of those diagnosed for the first time, 6,787 were men and 8,357 were women.

Breast cancer accounted for the largest number of newly registered cases, with 2,928 patients diagnosed in 2025.

The country also recorded 1,480 first-time cases of trachea, bronchus and lung cancer, 1,392 cases of stomach cancer, and 832 cases involving malignant tumors of the rectum, rectosigmoid junction and anus.

Other newly registered cases included 463 cases of esophageal cancer, 237 cases of oral cavity and pharyngeal cancer, 199 cases of laryngeal cancer, 47 cases of skin melanoma and 21 cases of lip cancer.

The total number of patients with malignant tumors registered with medical institutions in Azerbaijan stood at 74,004 in 2025.

Of them, 28,026 were men and 45,978 were women.

By age group, 952 registered patients were children and teenagers aged 0-17, while 1,603 were aged 18-29, 5,797 were aged 30-39, 32,452 were aged 40-59, and 33,200 were aged 60 and older.
